What IS an Active Release Techniques Treatment?

If we had to guess, you've likely asked yourself that question at least once since hearing about ART. So, let us introduce you to ART treatment, the Gold Standard in Soft-Tissue Care. ART treatment is a non-invasive system precisely engineered to locate and quickly resolve soft-tissue disorders in muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. ART utilizes a hands-on diagnostic process, palpating affected areas in order to pinpoint the damage and inflamed tissue.

What can ART treat?
- Back Pain                   - TMJ
- Neck Pain                   - Frozen Shoulder
- Tennis Elbow            - Trigger Finger
- Hip/Knee Pain          - Nerve Entrapment
-Plantar Fasciitis       - Headaches

..... and much more!

How Treatment Works:

1. Identify aberrations in tissue texture, tension, movement, and function through palpation and test movement.

2. Target dysfunction by isolating the structure and utilizing one or more ART treatment protocols, combining precise touch and tension with specific patient movement, thereby releasing the tissue that no longer functions properly due to overuse, injury, or weakness.

3. Repeat. It is not uncommon for a secondary problem to be exposed after the initial treatment is complete.

Cupping

Alternative medicine by placing cups on the skin and creating suction with the skin and underlying tissues. The purpose is to unbind stagnant tissue underneath where the cup is placed to facilitate the removal of tissue debris via the lymphatic system and improving blood flow to the area to promote healing. An additional purpose is myofascial decompression and allowing improvement mobility of tissues. Often cupping produces discoloration on the skin that is often mistaken as a bruise and sometimes soreness. Only one cupping variation is presently offered:

Air cupping – use of a hand pump gun to suck air out of a plastic cup on the surface of the body. This will pull the tissue and underlying muscles up into the cup.

Cupping may be incorporated into any session with the consent of the recipient.

Unfortunately, Fire Cupping is out of a massage therapist's scope of practice and is not board approved in Florida.

Swedish Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Can be either full body (recommended 90 minutes) or focus on 1-2 specific treatment areas (recommended 30-60 minutes). Massage strokes are slower with deeper and firmer pressure usually combined with specific techniques for trigger point/tender point release. Myofascial release is often used in combination with this modality in order to provide the body with pain relief, improved circulation, increased mobility, and to ultimately restore the tissues back to optimal functionality. Some tools like a scraper may be used to help unbind tissue.

Vacuum Cupping - use of a hand pump gun to suck air out of a plastic cup on the surface of the body. This will pull the tissue and underlying muscles up into the cup. A $10 additional charge is applied for this service.

Fire Cupping - use of creating a flame to heat up the inside of a glass cup right before it is placed on the skin. When the cup cools it creates a vacuum for the skin and underlying tissue to be pulled into the cup. A $20 additional charge is applied for this service.

Full body massage with pressure adjusted to accommodate client’s needs with the primary goal of relaxation and restfulness.
